Tumblr Help

Tumblr community, @makronas is trying to leave a bad situation and move within the month. There are up to 8 cats that need to be fostered or rehomed in the next few weeks in the Bakersfield, CA area. The shelters and rescues are full.

If there is anyone in that area that can help with finding a no-kill rescue organization or assist in rehoming, please contact @makronas.

Hoping to get some photos and more information but wanted to get this started.  Thank you in advance.

If you’d like to help me with my situation, either by rehoming my babies or perhaps donating for my move across the country, or to ask for more information,

you can contact me here through the messaging system or at ceruleancancrine@yahoo.com.

Anyone who does take my cats and wants to keep me updated on them even when they are no longer mine, I’d love love to have that, because I am going to miss them dearly!

I’m just going to add some background information here if that’s alright.

My name is Makayla and I recently turned 26. I’ve been homeless twice in my life, I’m mentally ill and a sexual and emotional abuse survivor. I currently have no income and no transportation, which makes this even harder. Having to part from my babies is breaking my heart, but I know my choices are limited and I just want them to be happy and safe from my mother.

The tldr of it is, I left my home with my mother for two months so I could visit my girlfriend. When she found out I had been trying to make plans not to return (including trying to find transport or rehoming my cats from several states away) she threatened to throw them out and stop feeding them until I had no choice but to go back. I arrived 3 days ago to find some of my cats already thinning and matted, her dogs not looking much better. The house is a complete disaster, everything from the walls to the floors is dirty and covered with roach droppings. We can’t live here anymore. I can’t live here anymore. My mental health is worse than it’s ever been, and I may need to flee faster than anticipated. But I don’t want to leave again before my cats do if I can help it.

Here are some photos of my babies and a little info about them underneath. Keep in mind, all of them are indoor cats and most are fearful of the outside:

This is Sheik and he is my oldest cat, rounding about 10 years. I got him from a shelter when he was scheduled to be killed the next day, so he is neutered. He is very large and possibly a mainecoon mix. He is the most outgoing of my cats and loves people so long as they don’t try to grab at his feet. He was matted and dirty when I came home. Because I have had him for so long, parting with him at this stage of his life hurts a lot. I would like to have him in a foster home that would be willing to keep him if I simply cannot.

This is Momo, my second eldest cat at around 8 years old. I found him under a car by himself. He is neutered and a bit on the large side.
Anyone who fosters or rehomes him should be aware that he will need some time to adjust, probably more than the others can be expected to. He is one of my most shy cats and takes a while to warm up to people, but I think it’s definitely worth the wait because he is very loving and wants to be by your side. Because of his temperament and attachment to me, I may only ask for a foster, but if the foster bonds very well with him, rehoming him permanently is welcomed.

This is Deirdre, she is around 5 years old and unfortunately not spayed. She is Damy’s sister and they are from the same litter of strays. I saved them both from a hot shed someone had locked them in. Deirdre is very friendly with people, but can get territorial around other cats. She can be a little vocal when she wants your attention or to be fed. I’d like to have her rehomed.

This is Damy (pronounced like Dam-E) Deirdre’s brother and thus had the same circumstances. He has been neutered and is around 5 years old. He’s very friendly with people and likes to be a lap cat. He can also be a little vocal when he wants your attention or to be fed.

I’d like to have him rehomed.

This is Belarus, I mostly call her Ru or Rusie though. She is around four years old and unfortunately not spayed. A neighbor’s children had been mistreating a litter of kittens and she was the only survivor I ever found. The tip of her tail was broken when she was with them, but she’s otherwise just fine. She is very friendly with people and will stand for you if you lean down to pick her up. I’d like her to be rehomed.

This is Claudio, he’s over a year old and already neutered. He was a thin young stray living at one of the abandoned houses in our neighborhood when I took him in. He’s very friendly and quiet for his age. He’s not much of a lap cat, but he does love pets and attention and will curl up by your side unprompted. He gets along pretty well with other cats as well. I’d like to have him rehomed please.

This is Sugar, she is spayed and around a year old now. When I found her, she was a nearly starved feral, had ringworm, and her eyes were so infected I thought she would end up blind. Thankfully, she recovered quickly, and though she is still very shy, she is very sweet (like sugar). I think she would do really well in a home with someone new, maybe one other cat, who can give her lots of love and open her up more. If you can rehome her, that’d be great.
