Things that make me care about your story: a main character who has to come out as a hero to their best friend to save them, and the inevitable ensuing conversations where they hash it out and end up helping each other
Things that make me roll my eyes into the fucking void: have the mc and best friend fight over a girl; kill off the best friend because one of the writers has a boner for mc/girl even though their chemistry is shitty compared to bf/girl (and it’s shown the mc had a shitty relationship with her in the past while she and the bf actually have something healthy?? Why.)
