what kind of ships would be some of your otps?

Harumichi is a Viking longship. Capable of navigating in water only a metre deep, it’s pretty safe from reefs and icebergs, and the shallow hull permits for landing on beaches, or for sailing up a river, which can (and did) result in surprise raids. You can lift a longship out of the water and carry it over land to another body of water. You can turn it bottom up and use it for shelter on land. And some of the techniques used in making longships are still used worldwide, if adapted in the name of modernity.

Kunzoi is a Dutch schooner. Smaller than most ships of its time and able to operate in shallower waters, but still armed with enough cannons to be a legitimate threat, and capable of carrying cargo in various environment, it was very popular among those who conducted businesses that required fast and agile ships–offshore fishing, privateering, slaving, blocade running.

Han/Leia is
an Ancient Greek petekonter, a long-range and very versatile ship, used
for purposes from sea trade through naval warfare to piracy, capable of
transporting both cargo and troops. And the term was also used to
describe a military commander of fifty men. Odysseus probably sailed a
petekonter, too.

Shiara is a Portugese caravel, a true classic and the best ship of its time. Fast and agile, capable of crossing the ocean instead of just exploring along the shoreline, it could even sail upriver in shallow coast waters. Even its limited capacity to carry crew and cargo didn’t hinder its success. Used extensively to explore the coasts of Africa, and to discover America.

Finn/Rey/Poe is a 19th century clipper. Small for the standards of its time, capable of carrying very limited amounts of cargo, but its huge total sail area and narrow hull made it very fast. They were developed and used mainly for trading in highly valuable cargo, such as tea, silk, opium, and gold.

Inner Senshi Poly Pile is the Yellow Submarine. Yes, the Beatles one.

Korrasami is a fucking U-boat ok, it evolved from the inability to build more battleships, cruisers, or destroyers; it’s unbelievably effective in torpedoing other ships; and few people other than the crew want to even consider it’s there.

PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO THE BEST AND MOST ACCURATE POST ON TUMBLR DOT COM

Also you can’t show this to me and expect me to restrain and not to proudly present you a REINAKO SHIP which, depending on given circumstances, would look either like this

or like this

but mostly, on a daily occasion, probably like this
