BUDDY MY STAR WARS EXPERIENCE IS TFA AND ROGUE 1 AND THAT IS IT, I HAVE NEVER BEEN LESS QUALIFIED TO ANSWER SOMETHING
@paksenarrion-reader you wanna put your nerd hands on this? or literally ANYONE ELSE BUT MEMy man, my dude, Star Wars isn’t a great fandom for girls. Even less for girls who aren’t straight. There isn’t enough women for a solid lesbian ship. And don’t start yelling Rey/Phasma at me, I said SOLID lesbian ship.
But sure, hey, it was a big thing, so why wouldn’t they watch it?
Usagi cheers for Leia the hardest, from one Princess to another, since neither is afraid to use a weapon or mouth off to the enemy. The Senshi dread Usagi trying to be more like Leia. Luckily, it all disperses into harmless admiration.
Ami doesn’t understand the choices that made the New Republic weak enough to be decimated by either the Yuuzhan Vong, or the First Order, depending on whether we’re rolling with the canon reset or not. She’ll be over there with characters like Mon Mothma and Garm Bel Iblis and Bail Organa, but they’ll be her problematic faves, and soon enough there’s an epic fanfiction online, retelling the story of the Rebellion where its leaders make better choices and the galaxy becomes a better place after the Empire’s defeat.
Rei absolutely refuses to like the Jedi, and will engage in a heated monologue about how the Jedi are The Worst, and frankly, she won’t be wrong, there’s only so much genuine fuckupedness you can wave off by rule of cool. Her favourite character is Lando Calrissian. Do not get her started on how unjustly the fandom villifies Lando. Again, she won’t be wrong, but do we really need to hear this for the thirtieth time?
Makoto doesn’t care about Star Wars until The Force Awakens comes out, and at that moment starts rooting for Rey like crazy. No family, good fighter, remains soft despite the galaxy’s best efforts at hardening her. It’s good to see yourself on a big screen, looked up to by kids and teens all over the world.
Minako is gonna play the devil’s advocate and pick Darth Vader every time someone asks, but her actual fave is Grand Admiral Thrawn. She actually took notes after being pointed at media portraying him well.
Haruka has a soft spot for Luke, the farmer kid who wanted to be a hero, but if asked when sober, she’ll always talk about the starfighter pilots first. Try not to get her into a discussion about swoop racing or pod racing, either.
Michiru doesn’t care for Star Wars, but in the end, she finds herself fond of Chewbacca. The constant urge to Do What’s Right, Regardless Of How It’s Detrimental To Your Health & Well-Being, the insistence to communicate with growls and barrel into battle without a plan, reminds Michiru of her wife.
Setsuna finds the most obscure Expanded Universe characters to relate to, and is the person to point out that the redhead Human dancer in Jabba’s palace is Mara Jade. If she’s encouraged to keep talking through the movie, a rewatch with her becomes a lore lesson.
Hotaru wishes her moms and dad would just let her watch Star Trek instead.
Chibiusa finds herself going for the more philosophical books of the Expanded Universe, and though, like Minako, she has a hefty dose of respect for Thrawn, in the end her fave turns out to be Jaina Solo. Jedi Knight, starfighter pilot, daughter of the woman who functionally carried first the Rebellion, then the New Republic through more than most of her peers (indeed, more than her home planet) managed to survive and a criminal-turned-General, titled the sword of the Jedi during her Knighting, tough as nails, humble enough to learn from other peoples when she can. What’s not to like?

“What irony. To find the man about whom I have dreamt endlessly… only to discover that he cannot even remember who I am!”
On that note, do you think that Haruka bought Hotaru Heelies just so she could wear them too and justify it to herself (and others; just imagine that conversation with me.) Like buying them for her tiny child and then acting like safety wheels and just holding Hotaru’s hands as they glide through the park or something
