More AU thoughts no one asked for:

I haven’t hammered out all my thoughts on the issue, but I’ve been re-reading His Dark Materials and we all know Michiru Kaioh is the leader of a terrifying witch clan and her daemon the elegant, beautiful, and murderous fish eagle, who is also female, because Michiru is a giant lesbian.

I’m feeling weird today – AU where REI is the princess.

docholligay:

  • Rei is completely unsurprised, why is everyone not on their knees right now, excuse you.
  • Pride turns to a sinking feeling as she realizes there is more to this role than being adored. There is the knowledge that others will fight and die for you. People you love.
  • Rei does NOT have Usagi’s problem of inability to act–if anything, she is rash, she shoots first and asks questions later.
  • The energy between her and Mina, Venus, the commander, is palpable. And Rei is the princess, and can take what she wants.
  • This leads to deep conflicts between her and Usagi that are only intensified when Rei lets Michiru and Haruka kill Hotaru Tomoe.
  • Haruka spirals in the aftermath of that choice, always knowing she was bad, and tainted, but now she has the knowledge that she murdered a child, and even if it was the right choice, of course she was chosen, because she was bad enough to do it, and that is why she’s spent so much of her life running, so much of her life alone.
    • Michiru is rather unbothered by the whole incident, having made peace with the kind of person she knows herself to be, and the knowledge that someone has to be the bad guy, to save the world.
    • But it kills her to watch Haruka fraying.
    • There is no reconciliation or love between them, and Haruka pushes her further and further away, knowing she is unworthy of love. KNowing she could never be good.
  • Rei is the ruler Usagi could never be, and Galaxia does not run roughshod over this world, over Rei’s world, because Rei will never give up what is hers without a fight.
  • Haruka is lost in the fight with Galaxia. It’s the first time she knows peace, dying for her princess. Repaying the debt she owed Hotaru.
  • Michiru, who has never grown close with Rei, and who had no claim to Haruka but the call of her own heart, simply shuts herself up even tighter.
  • Crystal Tokyo comes with Venus at her side, more terrifying and fierce than ever, and with Usagi sitting at the bottom of the palace stairs, wishing Rei Hino would return.

AU thought: Sailor Moon, but instead of Ami as Sailor Mercury, it’s Kozue Kaoru.

docholligay:

Wow hey DO I WANT THIS SO BADLY. WAY TO MAKE ME A MASSIVE SAILOR MERCURY FAN.

  • Kozue is not at all impressed by the future she’s been handed. She would rather be alone, be a wild thing, than be in thrall to whatever ‘princess’ she’s supposed to follow.
  • This whole ‘family togetherness’ garbage is just that. They’re bound together by duty, and that is that, whatever Usagi says.
  • But she thinks, for one moment: What if SHE’S the princess? What if SHE’S the one meant to rule–it makes sense to her, looking at her competition.
  • When Usagi as revealed as the princess, she rolls her eyes so hard she sprains something.
  • But Kozue has never believed in fate, and if she was not born to be the princess, perhaps she could become.
  • She walks into Beryl’s lair with a smile on her face. Usagi is so trusting.

Brooklyn 99 inspired: Haruka looses a wager to Minako, and Minako gets to take Haruka on The World’s Worst/Cheapest Date! The prom dress and dancing absurdly with Mina in a public bar (that is largely patroned by men like Jake) easily makes Haruka miserable. The hard part is trying to find a cheap vending machine with food Haruka won’t be glad to eat!

docholligay:

Haruka loses a bet to Minako and has to go on “The Worst Date Ever” and Haruka just laughs because Oh Mina, and even when she has to put on the prom dress, she totally expected it, yeah I’ll be girly tonight it’ll be hilarious, oh, sparkle butterfly clips aha, and then Mina picks her up in a wood paneled minivan.

And Seiya is in the back seat. In a prom dress. With sparkle butterfly clips.

They stare at each other, and then at Mina, who just says, “when you two lost this bet, I said you have to go on the worst date,” she can’t keep from smiling, “I never said it had to be with ME”

The rest of the night is her forcing them together: They have to slow dance while Mina karaokes “my Heart Will Go On,” she yells at them to hold hands every time they’re walking, they go to dinner at a cheap salad buffet.

Neither Seiya nor Haruka ever make a bet with Mina again, and at least on this they can agree.

Dear Drunk Doc. A la the Super S movie, what would your favs from Overwatch each be doing as kids in a cute opening montage?

docholligay:

*SQUEALS INTENSELY*

Pharah playing basketball in her little jersey, freezing on her just as she jumps toward the hoop, working on the dunk she’ll someday have, face full of tiny determination.

Mercy with her tiny arms around a huge Persian cat, hauling it down the hall with her, freezing on her kissing it’s head.

Winston reading a book he’s holding with his feet, freezing on his smile as he gazes out at the earth.

Tracer bounding down the stairs, jumping and hopping with a giant grin down them, freezing as she jumps the last stair and grabs her bag from the banister

Dva helping her mother in the kitchen, happily stuffing dumplings, the camera freezing on her just as her tongue sticks a little bit out of her mouth, focused on sealing it.

HIRE ME BLIZZ

DEAR DRUNK DOC – if the anime wasn’t homophobic and also showed baby Haruka and baby Michiru in the Super S movie opening reels – what would they be showing?

docholligay:

HONESTLY I COULD NEVER HAVE LOVED THE SUPER S MOVIE BECAUSE OF THIS GLARING DISPLAY OF LESBIAN HATRED. LET!! MY!! GIRLS!! BE!! CUTE!!

I mean come on, do we all not want to see baby Haruka adorably watching Speed Racer and playing with her little toy car, zooming along on the carpet right into the camera?

Do we not all want to see baby Michiru at her first little recital, and see the smile on her face when she takes a bow and hears the applause?

TOEI. WE ALL WANTED THAT. WE ALL DID.

What if the Senshi met some of their Silver Millenial parents as Usagi did? How would Makoto feel about meeting a new set of parents? What if Rei got the father she deserved, and her father was some badass regal warrior king of Mars?

keyofjetwolf:

Oh my god, I have so many fucking problems with these ideas of “our past life parents are also current”. Hell no, fuck that noise.

I actually LOVED how PGSM handled this idea. Usagi was brought to LITERAL TEARS about this, because she was afraid it meant Ikuko wasn’t really her mother. And that’s exactly how it should be, to my eyes. What is Queen Serenity to Usagi? What possible bearing could Jupiter’s parents have to Mako?

And that’s not even getting into the idea of how it works in the other direction as well. Who is Mako to whichever person or persons are the reincarnation of Jupiter’s parent(s)? They have even LESS knowledge or experience of what’s going on with all this shit.

I’m a fervent advocate of the past being the past and the present being the present. We are our experiences. What does that mean if you can just hot swap some past shit? While there may be similarities, Mako is not SilMil Jupiter, she is MAKO. The idea that they’re interchangeable, to my eyes, diminishes everyone, and I want no part of that.

And I mean, what’s Mako supposed to do? Just swap out her feelings for her dead parents for these new ones? People don’t work that way. That’s not a bad thing in my book.

So no. I vehemently disagree with the idea that Usagi has two mothers simply because Queen Serenity existed several thousand years ago, and I think if anyone told Mako she could plug and play her parents, she’d rightfully punch them in the face.

Imagine Michiru taking Tomoyo under her lesbian wings

rosepetalrevolution:

ok this was sent in before I asked for people to send in nice things but yo friend, this is a NICE THING.

Imagine them shopping. Perhaps the most beautiful thing about this is that it’s not Michiru taking Tomoyo shopping and like, buying her a gift or showing her the ropes or anything. NO, IT’S TWO HIGH FEMME QUEENS WITH LIMITLESS MONEY LAUNCHING A FULL SCALE PURCHASING ASSAULT ON EVERY BOUTIQUE AND DEPARTMENT STORE IN TOKYO. (if anything, it’s Tomoyo who helps steer Michiru away from questionable fashion tbh. also she’s got so many ideas for improving/altering/adding to what they find on her own. what a cutie).

Imagine Michiru inviting Tomoyo and Sakura out for tea/ice cream sodas at Crown with her and Haruka. Imagine these two little babies being shown that girls can love each other too – like they know about Touya and Yukito, of course, but there’s something really important about seeing two girls in love and in a relationship with each other for both of them, regardless of who they have crushes on at the moment or anything.

Imagine Michiru and Tomoyo performing duets, sometimes Michiru helps Tomoyo with her school festival performances, but imagine TOMOYO SINGING A SONG AT ONE OF MICHIRU’S CONCERTS AND GETTING SO MANY FANGIRLS.

IMAGINE WHEN TOMOYO FINDS OUT THAT MICHIRU IS A MAGICAL GIRL WARRIOR AND HARUKA IS THRILLED AT THE CHANCE OF HAVING SOMEONE RECORD A HIGHLIGHT REEL OF THEIR BADASS FIGHT MOMENTS SO SHE INVITES HER ALONG FOR SOME LOW-LEVEL YOUMA BATTLE AND TOMOYO JUST HAS STARS IN HER EYES THE ENTIRE TIME
