Continuing from yesterday

“I love that your wife
got pissed at you over a dream. What a reasonable squid.” Mina took another sip
of her coffee and set it on the café sidetable.

Haruka laughed, slumped
happily in the armchair, legs extended far into the middle of the rug. “I think
it’s cute.” She slurped at her hot chocolate cheerfully.  

“Of course you do, you’re
thrilled the one time a year you get one up on Michiru.” She rested her chin in
her palm and looked over at at Haruka. “So what happened again?”

“Picture it.” Haruka set
down her drink and extended her arms wide, her eyes closed and a grin on her
face. “A forest, midnight. The moon cuts through the trees and lights on the
tall and handsome blonde stranger, looking powerful and inspiring in the silver—“

“Spare me, Dickens, I know
what you think you look like.”

Haruka fiddled with the
chunky watch at her wrist. “So anyway I grab Usagi, and I tell her, ‘these
fighting games…it’s dangerous’, and—“

Mina began to laugh. “Oh
my fucking Christ, Haruka Tenoh stars in Days of Our Lives, Michiru needs
better writers.”

“Hey!” She winked at
Mina. “I think it makes me sound kinda dashing and mysterious.” She took a deep
drink of her hot chocolate, and a dollop of whipped cream stayed on her nose, a
sprinkle perfectly marking the tip.

“Yeah, dashing and
mysterious is definitely how I’d describe you.”

Haruka scowled playfully
and wiped the cream from her nose. “And then I grab Usagi and kiss her all
passionate like, and she’s all shocked and frightened and—

“And then Rei fucking
murders you? And then Michiru raises you from the dead to kill you again?”

“Yeah, it’s a little
sketchy.” She pulled the sleeves of her sweater up on her forearms. “I mean, I wouldn’t
really do that to a girl.”

“No, really?? Color me
shocked, when I think of you, I mean, not only do I think dashing and
mysterious, but I think of your massive sexual dominance.”

“Considering we’re
talking about forcing a girl,” she ran her hand through her hair and frowned, “And
not just any girl, but little Usagi, for fuck’s sake,  I’ll take that as a compliment.”

“Fair.” Mina looked over
at Haruka. “Anyway, all is peaceful at Kraken Enterprises, I hope.”

“Oh yeah, she forgave
me.”

“For a thing you didn’t
actually do.”

“I know, but it was a
really realistic dream!”

“Lesbians, Jesus.”
