I have been asked to do an art display for my local library at the same time as our town is having a book festival

Hi!  It’s awesome that you’re creating a display honoring the urban fantasy genre–I love all the authors you mentioned.  However, I should point out that women write the majority of urban fantasy, but these four men seem to get the majority of the attention whenever the genre is mentioned.  It’s bizarre.  If your library is anything like mine, you’re sure to have a richly diverse group of patrons, and seeing themselves represented might inspire them to discover a new genre and all the amazing authors therein.

To get you started, some of the most popular female UF authors include Seanan McGuire, Patricia Briggs, Ilona Andrews, Annie Bellet, P.N. Elrod, Anne Bishop, Faith Hunter, and of course Charlaine Harris. Why not swap one of the guys out, or add one of these women to the mix? Additionally, an urban fantasy author of color like Daniel Jose Older, Nalo Hopkinson, or Maurice Broaddus would be a fantastic inclusion.
